The village Trsteno is famous for gigantic plane trees, both over 500 years old ,  today  a part of the of the oldest botanical garden of Croatia – the Arboretum of Trsteno. Established at the end of the 15th century as a summer residence for the Gucetic family, it is today the finest example of Croatian landscape architecture. The park has a typical layout of Renaissance garden with grottoes and ancient ruins, summer residence, aqueduct, mill, fountain with Neptune and nymphs and the belvedere pavilion overlooking the sea and islands is the finest example of Dubrovnik summer residence garden architecture.

 

Game of Thrones film location 

The Trsteno Botanical Gardens, near Dubrovnik, were used as the setting for the gardens of King’s Landing in “Game of Thrones”. Key scenes filmed here include those with House Tyrell, like Sansa and Margaery’s conversations and Cersei’s infamous “walk of shame.” The gardens’ lush beauty provided a perfect backdrop for these pivotal moments.
