Korčula Island

Korčula is one of the largest and most attractive of Croatia’s Thousand Islands with 195 unspoilt coves and beaches, lush upland valleys and prosperous vineyards. There is evidence which suggests that the Romans first settled on this island as early as the 3rd century BC. The Greeks inhabited the island 2000 years ago and after centuries of turbulence the Venetians introduced stability in the 15th century.  Korčula, hometown of Marco Polo, famous stonemasons, shipbuilders and seafarers the people of Korčula left their marks all over the world, but they saved their best works for their own city. Experience the narrow streets, beautiful churches and magnificent palaces in one of the best preserved medieval towns in the Mediterranean.
